Sitting here Hungry and Broke in the Nation's Capital
by Joshua Lee Freeman, Editor
I am very hungry at the moment. The time is 2:08pm. I am sitting in the Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room in the Madison Library of Congress of the United States of America in Washington, District of Columbia. Thinkng about where I am going to eat for free that is closest to the Metro station at this hour. I cannot think of any. I can go to the internet and look up Soup Kitchens. I know that Martha's is a soup kitchen, dont know where it is, havent been there. I believe it is on the street somewhere here in D.C. I have no money in my bank account anymore. All the riches of the United States, friends and family financial help to really make a difference do not seem to make their way to me. I'm a pirate. That's how to do it, get things for free the old way. Isn't that what the Jolly Roger Flag represents anyway? Skull and Crossbones organization, looks like modern day Pirates of the Caribbean to me. Oil? It pollutes. I'd rather smell the pretty young girl sitting next to me on the train at times, or walking by me here and there. Dating me these days? Nah, they like to be purchased now adays. Sounds like modern day prostitution to me. "What do you think of me?" she asks. "I think that you're a prostitute. In fact, I know you're a prostitute." This is the fact, this is the reality. I could marry you, but I wouldn't even trust you with a piece of paper, never mind my happiness and life.
