French: secondary surname, a nickname for an affectionate man or a philanderer,
from Old French amoureux ‘loving’, ‘amorous’ (Latin amorosus, a derivative of
amor ‘love’), with the the definite article l’
This is just a few notes on the Lamoureux family
taken from the

Quebec
Louis Lamoureux appeard for the first time at Notre dame in Quebec on June 3,
1664. He was # 48 of 69 confirmees. He had been living in that country since
1663 and may have been completeting his 3 years of work.
On January 2,1666. Louis Lamoureux obtained a land grant in Arriere-fief
of the Grand - Pre-de-la_Redoute, near Quebec. In 1668 on March 19 th he sold
his property to Jaques Leprou.
Longueil
Louis Lamoureux was known as the " Habitant of Monsieur Le Moyne. Among the
pioneer families, it is necessary to place the family of Louis Lamoureux at the
top. On March 12,1675 Nine land owners recieved thier deeds to the propety.
On May 1681, Louis sold his property to Francois Lanctot a 28 year old bachelor.
In the spring of 1683 Louis Lamoueux bought a piece of propert across from Fort
St Louis in Chambley. The Lamoureux family would live there for a few years
before moving themselves to yet another home.
ILE Sainte - Marguerite
Across from Bourcherville there was a virgin island. Louis wanted the whole
island for himself and his family. He obtained posecion of it on October 8,1686.
The whole Lamoureux family lived there on the island. In 1692 a son recieved a 6
th of the island. In the year 1700 the rest was divided with Louis keeping
the biggest and best portions for him self. On July 9,1700 he sold the
remaining portion of the island for a bigger one and more to the west.
Hotensia Lamoureux was born on Febuary 6, 1877 in St Hughes Canada. Died March
22,1963 in Pascoug, R.I. Married Jerome Ignace Bourget on June 6, 1904 at
Precious Blood church in Woonsocket, R.I. Their children will be listed on
the Bourget page.
This family line is going to go from France to New England.
LOUIS LAMOUREUX, b. Abt. 1639; d. February 25, 1714/15.

LOUIS LAMOUREUX was born Abt. 1639, and died February 25, 1714/15. He married
FRANCOISE BOIVIN 1681. She was born Abt. 1642, in Normandy, France and died
April 13, 1717. Ste Famille, Boucherville,PQ She is buried under the family pew
in the church at Boucherville,
LOUIS LAMOUREUX: Louis had been living in New France [Quebec] since 1663. The
funeral for Louis was held in the church of Sainte Francois on the isle of
Jesus, with Father Plante presiding at the service.
